Summering av februari 2022

On this post I give a summary of February 2022 by looking at the most important factors that I pay attention to around my lifestyle.

Min fastande livsstil

I followed my every other day fasting variation in the follicle phase where I fasted between 17 – 19 hours. My follicle phase was once again very long this month, so I managed more fasting than normal and collected 291 hours in total.

Sleep and recovery

Looking at my average HRV I sit on 52 which is normal for me, so I have balanced my activity and recovery in a good way.

Weight

I have dropped a little bit more weight on average, but I think I am fairly stable where I am at the moment. My ambition is to lose fat mass and gain more muscle mass.

Digestion and hydration

To hydrate more has made an impact on my digestion. I still get bloated, but I have less other symptoms such as of gas or constipation. I also suspect that part of my bloating problem is connected to hormonal fluctuations of estrogen and progesterone. Reason why is because I am over 40 and approaching perimenopause.

Strength training

This type of training continues to be a big part of my life. It helps to remind my body that we still need muscle since I am doing a fair bit of fasting. Fasting will break down proteins to a certain extent. Some proteins the body should break down and recycle. But the main bulk of my muscle mass I of course want to keep. To embed strength training in a fasting lifestyle is the perfect way to ensure this. I also remind myself to eat enough protein to also keep protein synthesis active. I train not only to maintain but also to build more muscle mass.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) training

I have also started to include more HIIT training. I aim to have one HIIT training per week. Reason why is to get used to higher pace when I do my walk-jogs and eventually increase my average pace even on distance runs. Also HIIT has a positive impact on blood lipids such as HDL and cholesterol and of course it also stimulates heart and lungs.
